BEARS Training Modules

Four standardized training's will be offered to parents, licensed center based care, family and group home providers, and enrolled relative providers and day care aides and will also be open to other early childhood professionals within the community.
All training modules will be 3 hours in length and will cover the 0-5 age range with a heavy emphasis on infants and toddlers. Learning outcomes will be clearly identified for each module
Foundations of Social and Emotional Development
Participants will learn about, observe and begin to understand and recognize critical social and emotional milestones of children ages 0-5.
Preventing and Working with Challenging Behavior
Participants will learn about and practice planning for universal prevention strategies that benefit the social and emotional health of all children as well as strategies to assist children with challenging behaviors.
Conflict Resolution
Participants will be trained utilizing a conflict resolution approach designed for young children aged 18 months to 6 years. The approach is based on six simple mediation steps that child care providers and parents can use with children during emotionally charged conflict situations.
Caring for the Caregiver
Participants will learn about adult caregiving characteristics that build trust and support healthy relationships with very young children. They will reflect and engage in learning experiences that connect them with their own culture, values, and belief in regards to caregiving practices. Lastly, participants will set realistic, measurable goals for themselves that will enhance the quality of the social and emotional care they provide.
