Course Offerings
Great Start to Quality Orientation's (GSQO)
If you are an unlicensed Relative or Day Care Aide and will be receiving DHS subsidy payments, there are is one required course for you to take before you are issued your provider information. GREAT START TO QUALITY ORIENTATION (GSQO) is a free 6 hour course that covers American Heart Association First Aid and CPR certification course; Nutrition, Health and safety; Shaken Baby Syndrome; and Safe Sleep practices. GSQO classes are ONLY for DHS funded Day Care Aides & Relative Providers.
Tier II
Tier II courses are non-orientation classes, including Peer to Peer courses, which cover a wide variety of topics. Tier II classes are normally worth 2-4 hours of training hours for licensing requirements. On the training calendar, these course are listed as Tier II classes or Peer to Peer classes.
Futures
Futures courses are most often 2 day courses which cover a particular topic in depth. All Futures classes currently offered are available for CEU credits as well as licensing requirement hours. There is a $10.00 fee for each CEU application, paid to the instructor at the time of the course. These courses include Administration I and II, Inclusion I, II and II, Infant/Toddler A,B, and C and Basic Futures. Because these courses are most in depth, it is our hope to have the instructors travel to a couple different destinations in the U.P. to make them available for all.
Online Courses
Our newest offerings are online courses. Each month we are hoping to offer 2 new courses, each 2.5 or 4 hours worth of credit. Check the training calendar each month for what's new. Each course must be finished in the two week time period designated for the class. Registration MUST be completed by the START DATE of the CLASS!
