T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Michigan Informational Webinar

 

Who should register for this webinar?

Anyone working in licensed or registered child care programs in Michigan interested in learning more about the T.E.A.C.H.® scholarship program, and how it works.

Get Started with your training today! The classes listed below are available until Sept. 30th.  A new year of courses start in October. Check back for an updated schedule to see what other classes being offered for the new year.

 

 Great Start to Quality Orientation's (GSQO)

GSQO classes are ONLY for DHS funded Day Care Aides & Relative Providers.  Great Start to Quality Orientation is a free 6 hour basic training required for aides and relative providers in order to continue receiving DHS reimbursement.  The orientation covers the following topics: American Heart Association First Aid and CPR certification course; Nutrition, Health and safety; Shaken Baby Syndrome; and Safe Sleep practices.  All currently enrolled aide and relative providers must complete this orientation before September 17, 2010.  All newly enrolled after March 7, 2010 must complete the orientation BEFORE being eligible for payment as a DHS child care provider.  See training schedule below.

Tier II Training

Tier II includes all non-orientation training. Classes are open to day care aides, relative providers, licensed and registered providers U.P.-wide. These classes include:

Blood Borne Pathogens - designed for to give childcare providers information on blood borne pathogens and        communicable diseases.  Students will learn disease identification and universal precautions and prevention.  There are .5 CEU's available for an $8 fee and must be obtained at the time of training.  CDA competency hours given.

Learning Through Play - covers the importance of play in early child development.  With hands-on activities and creative ideas to enhance a child's play experience.    CDA competency hours given.

Conscious Discipline® - Join Kathy Harsch for a 5 hour training covering the "how to" transform aggression.

This class is  being offered at :                    

  • In Houghton at the CCMH on Sept. 11th from 9am-2pm
  • As a two night course Sept 20th and 22nd in MQT next to the Children's Museum on Baraga Ave.  6pm-830pm both nights
